Question

A 7.50 kg bowling ball moving

6.42 m/s strikes a 1.60 kg bowling

pin at rest. After, the ball moves

5.43 m/s at a 12.0° angle. What is

the y-component of the pin's final

velocity?

Can some one plz give me a thourgh answer ,I would greatly appreciate it:)!

Momentum is conserved in both the x and y directions,

Assuming the bowling ball (M) traveled at velocity v in the +x direction,

the initial y momentum for the system was 0.

Afterward, whatever y component of momentum the bowling ball had,

the pin had that in the opposite direction:
