Retired math prof. Very extensive Precalculus tutoring experience.
The line 2x - y = 7 has slope 2.
So, we need to find x so that (ex)' = 2
ex = 2
x = ln2
Point of tangency is (ln2, eln2) = (ln2, 2)
Equation of tangent line: y - 2 = 2(x - ln2)
So, y = 2x - 2ln2 + 2

I have two questions: should the curve be y = x^2 and have you learned how to differentiate (this question is labelled precalculus)?02/23/22
