In this problem we know that an object being dropped initially has no speed, so the only force acting upon it is gravity. So we can find the speed (velocity) after 2s with the equation v=gt. The acceleration of gravity is negative 9.8 m/s^2, so after inserting g=-9.8 and t=2. We get -19.6 m/s.
