A machinist wishes to insert a brass rod with a diameter of 6 mm into a hole with a diameter of 5.993 mm. By how much would the machinist have to lower the temperature (in °C) of the rod to make it fit the hole?

Hi. calculate A0 before expansion then A after expansion ,use A=pi r square. then use the equation. A=A0 ×( 1 + beta × delta T ) beta is coefficient of surface expansion which is equal approximately double of longitudal (linear) expansion coefficient. delta T should be negative.02/08/22
