5 x 11 cm^3 = 55 cm^3 pi3
your brother eats one piece, of 11 cm^3 leaving 44 cm^3
the remaining 4 pieces are cut in half, with the 11 cm^3 pieces now 8 pieces of 5.5 cm^3 each
1/3 of the initial volume = 55/3 = 18 1/3 cm^3 < 44/2 = 22 cm^3
1/3 of the initial volume is less than what's left after your brother ate one piece and even after half of what's left isn't counted.
the problem appears a little ambiguous as to what you're comparing, but however you do it, that 1/3 seems less than whatever is left.
