Brian would like to build a scale model of the teepee for his report on Native Americans.According, to the textbook, the teepee is 10 feet high.If the scale Brian uses in 2 inches equals 1 foot, how many inches high should he build his model teepee?

Set up a proportion.  Let x = the the height of the model teepee:

 

2 inches        x inches

-----------  =  -----------

  1 foot         10 feet

 

(2  inches)*(10 feet)
