angles of elevation and depression flagpole problem. please help!

A flagpole is located 30 feet from the school. From the top of the school, the angle of elevation to the top of the flagpole is 25 degrees and the angle of depression to the base of the flagpole is 40 degrees. How tall is the flagpole?

height of school building = 30 x tangent of 40 degrees = about 25.2 feet

height above the top of the school above the flagpole = H = opposite/30 = tan25 = .466

opposite side = 30(.466) = 14

flagpole height = 25.2 - 14 = 11.2 = flag pole height

Tan(25º)= (Portion of flag pole over the height of the school)/(30 feet to flag pole)

Tan(40º)= (Portion of flag pole below the height of the school)/(30 feet to flag pole)

The height of the flag pole = Portion above the school + Portion below the height of the school
