A 40 kg little girl is at the top of an amusement park slide.

A 40 kg little girl is at the top of an amusement park slide. The slide is 20.0 m long and is inclined to an angle of 30o. She slides down from rest and reaches the bottom having “lost” 68% of her initial energy which was transformed into thermal energy due to the friction of the ride.

a) Assuming there was no friction, what should the girl’s speed be at the bottom of the slide?

b) However there is friction so determine her speed at the bottom of the slide.

c) Calculate the force of kinetic friction acting on the girl during her descent.
