8x2+2x-3
When the coefficient of x2 is not 1, I prefer to use the slide and divide method.
ax2+bx+c
Multiply a times c and determine the factors of the result that add up to b
8×3 = 24 Factors into 6 and -4 which sums to 2
(x+6)(x-4)
Then divide the number in each parenthesis term by a which is 8 in this case.
(x+6/8)(x-4/8) = (x+3/4)(x-1/2)
Then multiply each parenthesis term by the each fraction's denominator
(4x+3)(2x-1)
A. 8x2+2x-3 = (4x+3)(2x-1)
