What is the domain of y=sin(x)+tan(x)? How to solve without graphs.

Thank you. So the domain for sin(x) is all real numbers, and domain for sin(x)/cos(x) is all real numbers except for pi/2 + n\pi , so therefore domain for y is all real numbers except pi/2 + n\pi ?

Celine, I like your approach, and you see the need to include multiples, but make sure to define "n" and match that "n" with all the positive and negative values where cos(x) is zero. That is, cos(x) is not zero at x= 0*pi, for example, but cos(x) is zero at x= pi/2 and x = -pi/2. Does that make sense?--Andrew
