Here are some facts about position vs. time graphs that should help you:
- The y-axis is measuring distance from a certain spot -- positive is the distance in one direction, while negative would be backwards. We're kinda pretending the world is only 1-dimensional like that for these types of graphs.
- Any time the y-axis says 0, the object is back at the starting point.
- Any time the graph is perfectly horizontal (keeping the same y-value for some time), that means the object is not moving.
- If a line is straight, the speed is constant.
- If a line is curved, the speed is changing.
- The steeper the slope of the line (closest to vertical), the faster the object is moving.
