The answer to that question is what are you looking to do and how much money do you want to spend? If you are looking for sound reinforcement mics, there are a lot of affordable drum mic kits available, where you make a single purchase and you can get all the mics you are in need of, from 3 mics to 7+ mics. Some of the better, affordable models are Sennheiser, Shure, Audix, sE Electronics, and others. If you are looking for recording mics, they usually cost more and are better quality. As a drummer, I have asked that question many times and find it best to ask audio engineers what their favorite drum mics are. After many years of talking to live engineers and studio engineers, my opinion is that Sennheiser and Shure are the mics I am looking at, for live reinforcement. You may have a different opinion after your research.
The next thing, to save money, is look for used or refurbished deals on places like Craigslist, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, your local music store, pawn shops, studios going out of business, etc.
At a minimum, I would recommend a kick mic, snare mic and an overhead.
I hope this helps.
