The equation at the end is in slope-intercept form y=mx+b.. In slope-intercept form, 'm' represents the slope and 'b' represents the y intercept. Thus we know that the line ascends three units for every unit it moves to the right and that it crosses the y axis at (0,-4).
Since the other line is parallel to the first line, it will have the same slope. Thus, the slope for the new line should be 3 (M=3). We also know that, at x=6, y will equal -8. To set x at zero, we will subtract six. Since what we do to x we do threefold to y, we will subtract 18 from -8. Thus the y intercept will be at (0,-26) and the equation will be y=3x-26. You can confirm this using a paralllel line calculator online.
