Trujillo's dictatorship came to an end as a result of his incapacity to accept any form of resistance and the assassination of the Mirabel sisters. Explanation: In his piece "Trujillo & The Mirabal Sisters," Mike Kubic describes how Rafael Trujillo took control in the Dominican Republic and how his authoritarian rule over South American countries came to be. Kubic discusses the multiple circumstances that contributed to Trujillo's ascent to control over the people, as well as the historical evidence that demonstrates his tyrannical rule. While the republic appeared to benefit equally from his leadership, such as economic growth and stability, other things appeared to be more of a compelled belief in their king. Cities were renamed after him, and statues of him were constructed in the style of an "obsessive personality cult." Even though he authorized an official opposition, it was just to identify those who opposed him and have them executed by the "SIM (Servicio de Inteligencia Militar)." He deployed this secret service operative to get rid of everyone who tried to criticize his regime. Among his many crimes, the killing of the Mirabel sisters, "Patria, Mara Teresa, and Minerva Mirabal," was the most heinous. They were killed after leading a group of rebel armies to oust Trujillo. "What capped – and concluded – Trujillo's evil career was the death of three girls who refused to take it on the chin to the horror that millions of young men afraid to fight," the piece states emphatically. His collapse was precipitated by this, as well as his refusal to allow anybody to challenge his authority, despite the fact that he professed to be working for the common good.
