The general equation for slope of the line that goes through (-1,4) can be written as (y-4)/(x+1) = m , and we know the slope is equal to the slope between the two points: m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) = (1-5)/(3+4)
(In algebra, you are often given the point/slope form as y-4 = m(x+1) - I just think the slope form that I used is easier to remember)

Thanks for the response, I'm required to put my function in y=mx+b form, what is the equation for this question in that form?10/12/21
