Remember that vertical and horizontal velocities follow different rules -- they don't affect each other at all. So the answer to this problem is the same as if the builder just dropped the shingle from rest
- Initial velocity is 0 m/s
- Distance/height is 9.4 m
- Acceleration is 9.8 m/s2
- You should have a formula that includes those 3 variables and also the final velocity that you are solving for.
