With inequalties you most often need to move everyting to one side and factor:

2x^2 - 5x - 3 > 0

(x-3)(2x+1) > 0

Inequality like that is solved with interval method ( if you don't know it - please let me know):

x ∈ (-∞,-1/2) ∪ (3, +∞)
