Industrialization drastically increased productive efficiency through increased levels of mechanization and specialization (both of which further contribute to the evolution of the international system). The popularity of capitalism among nations provided economic incentive (profit motive) to more people than enjoyed such opportunities under feudal systems. Meanwhile, increased trade and cultural contact opened additional markets that both exporters and importers could access, leading to greater comparative advantage. Necessarily, travel routes and logistics were in greater demand to safely and securely deliver goods from one market to another, propelling the shipping industry to ever greater technological developments (consider the rate of advancement in boat design from 1000 CE to 1500 CE vs the rate of advancement in boat design from 1500 CE to 2000 CE). Similarly, communications technology improved. Although the technologies were rudimentary at first (letters/post), the need to track and account for shipments drove ever more advancements to the point that we now may communicate in near real time with people in any other country on Earth or even into space.
While this is not a complete list of ten, you can begin to develop your own suggestions from here by considering other industries, behaviors, or ideas that have flourished since the 17th century (hint: you may think about the role of government, philosophy, literature, or economics).
