all you have to do here is multiply by the -2

so, -2(w+8) would become (-2*w) + (-2*8) which equals 

(-2w) + (-16) = -2w - 16

In the Distributive Property you obtain the answer by multiplying each component inside the bracket by the number outside the bracket and then adding together.  For instance, 3(4+x) = 3*4 +3*x = 12+3x.
