How would you solve this?

Find the domain of f. Enter your answer using interval notation.) f(x) = (x - 4)/(sqrt(x - 3))

Mark M.

A solution is different form stating the domain. Which do you want?

Tip to answering these types of questions: what is being asked when you're told to find the domain of a function? Essentially, we need to list all values of the input variable (x in this case) for which the function is defined. Or more easily, start with all real numbers, then check for values of x that make the function undefined (things to check for: negatives under square roots, zeros in denominators, logarithms of zero/negative numbers, etc.). Your domain is then all real numbers minus those values that you found. Using this information, can you see if you can work through this problem? We have a rational function (with a denominator) and a square root.
