Use an equation to find the value of  so that the line that passes through the given points has the given slope. 

1. (1,3), (5,k); m=2
2. (−2,k), (2,0); m=−1
3. (−4,k), (6,−7); m=−15
4. (4,−4), (k,−1); m=34

Answer 1

1 (k-3)/4 = 2

k-3 = 8

k= 11

2 k/-4 = -1

k = 4

3 (k+7)/-10 = -15

k+7 = 150

k = 143

4 3/(k-4) = 34

3 = 34k - 136

34k = 3+136 = 139

k= 139/34
