I, personally, am unsure which specific moment you are trying to refer to but it is important to understand the diversity of people because we can see from the past that many groups fight and struggle for what they perceive as the best land. Every group wants to own the best farming, hunting, or land for cattle. This amounts to a larger reserve of food and necessities when it comes to building a tribe, community, or any civilization.
A) I struggle to understand who the nations of peoples were, but again I am going to assume this is in reference to Native Americans, and I cannot say for certain they were accustomed to diversity in people. They may have met some explorers over the years, but there was never a large population of European, African, or Asian cultures in America before the European expansions. Hence I would select B as my answer mainly because people fight all the time for land and the salvation of their family and community.
