The key to remember about thriller stories is they lean toward suspense, not horror. What Emma is seeing doesn't have to invoke fear, just excitement or anxiety. That being said, here are a few ideas:
The story must begin with "Emma could not believe what she saw in front of her..." If you're stumped to what Emma could be seeing, leave it open to the reader imagination. Write the rest of the 200 words as a flashback leading up to that point, then leave the sight open-ended.
If you can imagine what Emma is seeing, but don't know were to go from there, you could try other literary devices. One option is Emma could be an unreliable character; her point of view is false and other characters (if you choose to include them) see events in the story completely different. Another option is Emma is reliable, but you include a twist ending. There are many examples of the shadowy figure that turns out to be a household item the reader wasn't expecting to be misplaced.
Whatever path the plot takes you, make sure the word choice lends to suspense. For example, instead of walking, creeping or stalking may be a better substitute. Good luck on your assignment!
