The length of a rectangle is 2 more than twice the width. The area of the rectangle is 60. Find the dimensions of the rectangle. What is the length of the rectangle?

Let x = length and y = width

Area = xy = 60

x=2y+2

xy = (2y+2)y = 2y²+2y = 60

2y²+2y-60 = 0 --> y²+y-30 =0

(y+6)(y-5) = 0 --> y = -6, 5 Choose the positive one since it is a measurement

x = 2y+2 = 10+2 = 12
