b^12 = 7, the log of 7 to the base b = 7
b=the 12th root of 7, 1<b<2, with b closer to 1 than 2
bxbxbxbxbxbxbxbxbxbxbxb = 7. b times itself 12 times = 7
it's easier to see what goes on with a more simple example
log100= 2 (log is often used as the common log with implicit base =10)
10 squred = 100, 10^2 = 100, similarly
logb7 = 12 means b^12 = 7
you need a calculator to solve for b, but you know it's between 1 and 2 since 1^12 = 1<7 and 2^12>7
