Tutoring Playing Gospel Music
PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE!
The more you practice, the better you will become. If you are a beginner you can start practicing your scales at lease 15 minutes a day and if you have a song you can play do that each day for 15 to 20 minutes until you learn the song. Continue practicing more and more until you can increase the time from 15 to 30 or 60 minutes a day and so on. I practice about 2 to 3 hours a day and sometimes more, but it takes a willing mind to do this.

You can improve your piano playing by setting YOUR BIG GOAL and SMALL GOALS. Think of it as a video game we all like to play. You stay on the same level until you master it for you know the obstacles on the game, right? Learning is like that! And it takes TIME! You already love to play, so set your mind and have fun!

I would say that the best way to improve your piano playing is to find a solid teacher who is experienced, qualified, and passionately wants to support you in YOUR own personal goals as a piano player. A lot of tutors will offer a free 30 lesson to start off, and this is an opportunity for you to see what the teacher's approach will be to helping you fulfill your goals, and may even help you to set clear and concise goals. Improving on the piano comes with knowledge, but also applying it! This may be a little vague, but you're on the right platform here to help you find a great teacher! Hope this helps guide you in the right direction. -Jonathan A. Velez
The easy answer is to practice but more importantly setting goals and working towards those. What areas are you feeling need improvement? If it's technique, then certain exercises are good. If it's improvisation you should transcribe solos you like and analyze them. Finding a teacher such as myself will help hone in on specific areas of your playing and work with you from there. Improving your playing is a little vague not knowing where you are at currently and what your musical focus is. Hope this helps.

The short answer is practice! practice!! practice!! For specifics on how, ask a tutor who has seen your progress and can give you a more tailored answer on where to put most of your effort. Piano "expertise" will not come automatic, so be gentle on yourself, and practice wisely.01/10/21
