pre calc help!!!!!

If you were to use completing the square on this problem, x2+4x ____−5=2 what number would go in the blank ?


A)  - 2

B)  - 4

C)  + 2

D)  + 4

I think to really be able to help, having the original equation could be beneficial if you have it available.

Ditto----"completing the square" typically starts with a binomial on the left side, and a constant on the right. the idea is to add the same constant to both sides such that the binomial becomes a perfect square. So.......first put the equation into this form: x^2 + 4x = 7. Next add 4 to each side to get: x^2 + 4x + 4= 11 Then, note that the left side can be written as (x + 2)^2
