First you need to figure out how much time it takes Ed to run 1 lap. You do this by taking his time for 8 laps (32 minutes), and divide it by 8.

32/8= 4 minutes for 1 lap.

To figure out how many minutes it will take Ed to run 10 laps, you need to multiply how long it takes him to do one lap by 10.

4 minutes x 10 laps = 40 minutes for 10 laps.
