An object is pushed off a 0.7 meter tall table with an initial horizontal velocity of 1.2 m/s (vx = 1.2 m/s). How long does it take for the object to reach the floor?
The time of vertical fall does not depend on the horizontal velocity ,As the initial vertical Velocity is zero, its a case of free fall under gravity
H = 1/2 (gt2 ) As initial velocity is zero for free fall
H= 0.7 m g = 9.8m/s2
0.7 = 1/2 ( 9.8)t2
1.4 = 9.8 t2
t 2 = 1.4/9.8
t = sqrt ( 0.1428) = 0.377 sec = 0.38 sec
