The equation after substitution becomes 2x2 + 11x + 5 = 0.
Solve for x:
2x2 + 10x + x + 5 = 0
(x + 5)(2x + 1) = 0
x = -1/2
x = -5
Plug cos(θ) back in for x
cos(θ) = -5
cos(θ) = -1/2
cos(θ) can't equal -5 so therefore cos(θ) = -1/2
