There are definitely pros and cons. The cons being that bias can run rampant. However the problem with government run media is that it doesn't get rid of the bias but now it is overtly state sponsored and that is a real threat to journalism.

Theresa has given you some good advice. I would like to add to it. Private ownership of the news does not happen in countries like China and North Korea. These may be some countries to look at to inform your opinion about private ownership of the news. '

This question is very broad, and you have not given any parameters as to length. Is the prompt asking for a paragraph or an essay?
Because it is so broad, this appears to be a question asked at the end of a unit to assess what you learned in the unit. If this is the case, look back through your notes and make a two column list of everything you find in your notes that would be either a strength or a weakness. Once you see which list is longer you will be able to answer the question and provide supporting evidence.
