Tony had a certain number of stamps that were each worth $0.15. He misplaced 7 stamps. He found that the total value of his stamp collection was now $5.55.

Let s = number of stamps originally
Then, 0.15(s - 7) = 5.55
0.15s - 1.05 = 5.55
0.15s = 6.60
s = 44 stamps
