Another way to say the y-intercept is the y value where x=0, so let's plug in 0 for all x values:
f(x) = 5x4 + 4x2 -x + x5 - 2 - 6x3
f(0)= 5(0)4 + 4(0)2 -(0) + (0)5 - 2 - 6(0)3
f(0)= 5(0) + 4(0) -0 + (0) - 2 - 6(0)
f(0)= -2
Therefore the y-intercept is (0,-2)
