Is this question phrased correctly? What is it asking for (solution)?

I'm in 5th grade and this question was given on a test? It looks easy but I'm not sure what type of question this would be and how would I explain the answer. 

 

A farmer plants 0.5 of a field with corn. Of that corn, 0.3 is sweet corn. What part of the field is sweet corn?

The question is phrased correctly.

 

So farmer plants 0.5 of a field with corn, i.e. half the field is planted with corn.

 

Of that corn 0.3 or 3/10th is sweet corn. So 3/10th of half field is corn

 

or (3/10)*.5 is sweet corn = 0.15 part is sweet corn, this is same is 15/100 of the field.
