Measure area

hi tutor,
 
My daughter is in 3 grade.  She has 2 math problems i am not quite understand what is the question asking.  Please explain and tell us the answer?  
 
Question #1:
Dom is tilling a countertop.  Each unit square is 1 square foot.  The blue squares are completed.  How many more square feet of countertop has Dom NOT completed, compared to what he has completed? 
  
    A.  12 square feet
    B.  20 square feet
    C.  32 square feet
    D.  8 square feet
 
Questions:  
Dawn draws a picture that is 12 square inches.  She draws another picture that us 12 square centimeters.  Which picture is larger?  Use centimete and inche square paper to solve the problem.  Explain how you solved the proble.

How many squares are NOT blue?
 
An inch is approximately 2.54 centimeters. So the 12 square inches is larger than the 12 square centimeters.

blue square are 12
Not completed squar are 20

So twenty squares are not completed. Each is 1 ft2. So the uncompleted are is 20 ft2, B.
