A mouse runs along a number line from the 5m mark to the 3m mark. What is the mouse's displacement?

Answer 1

Displacement = Change in position (Serway, p.19)

xi = Initial Position

xf = Final Position

Displacement = Delta x = xf - xi = 3 - 5 = - 2 (meters)
