Basketball Problem

Question

A basketball player shoots a ball toward the basket. Use the given ordered pairs to complete the problem, where t represents time and h(t)represents the height of the ball. 

(14, 7.26), (17, 1.155), (0, 6), and (10, 11.9)

Suppose the basketball does not touch the basketball net or the rim. When will the basketball hit the floor? Round your answer to the nearest second.

(0,6) suggests the ball is initially at 6 feet high, being held by a slightly taller basketball player.

In 10 seconds it's about its maximum height.

in 17 seconds it's near the floor, just a little over a foot above the floor

in 18 seconds, approximately, it will hit the floor

It rose nearly 6 feet from 6 to almost 12 feet in 10 seconds

if that were the maximum, it would take another 10 seconds just to get back to 6 feet, yet in 17 seconds it's only a foot from the floor. By 10 seconds it's already on the downward flight. The maximumn height was probably achieved closer to 8 or 9 seconds.

I'd round it off as 18 seconds to hit the floor
