1. Georgia jogs at a velocity of 4 m/s north for 20 seconds. What is her displacement?
displacement = velocity * time = (4 m/s) * (20 s) = 80 m north
2. A plane travels at 500 km/hr west for 300 km. What is the plane’s displacement?
I'm assuming you meant for 300 hours, not km
displacement = velocity * time = (500 km/hr) * (300 hr) = 150,000 km west
3. A polar bear swims at an average speed of 2.6 m/s. If the polar bear swims for 120 seconds, how far will it swim?
displacement = velocity * time = (2.6 m/s) * (120 s) = 312 m
4. Tree slots are the slowest moving mammals. If the sloth moves with a velocity of 0.743 m/s east, how long will it take it to travel 25 m?
displacement = velocity * time
=> time = displacement / velocity = (25 m) / (.743 m/s) = 33.647 s
5. An unusually fast zombie travels 36 m to the right in 7.5 seconds. What is its velocity?
velocity = displacement / time = (36 m) / (7.5 s) = 270 m/s
