Hello, I'd be happy to answer this question for you! In general, political parties make accomplishing business in government more difficult as do the different branches checks on one another. Because the two parties oppose one another they are less likely to support propositions for the other and thus some acts of government are not passed. Without cooperation, operations in government tend to slow.
