asked 09/08/20How to delete table but NOT table contents (in Microsoft Word)
I saw an explanation on how to delete contents from a table without deleting the table. However, I would like to do the exact opposite: I want to delete a table without deleting the text.
I downloaded a word document that has a 15-page table. I do not want to read all the content within a table. Is there a way to remove the table and leave all the text? Or is it not possible?

If you select anywhere in the table you should get two new options in the ribbon at the top of the page for Table Design and Layout.
Click the Layout tab and at the far right there is an option to "Convert to Text". To maintain the breaks created by the table it will ask how you want to separate the text. If you select "Tab" it will include a tab between the columns in the row of the table. You can use use the text box to specify how you would like to separate (e.g. space, dash)

I figured it out. You can highlight the table, and under the "Layout" tab there is an option called "Convert to Text". Click on that and it will convert the table into essay format. Now I know! Hope that helps someone else.09/08/20
