Their platforms allow for processing, gathering, collecting, synthesizing data and communication across borders, languages, business, government. All of the data they collect is intelligence. They turn it into actionable information to drive their strategies (marketing, acquisitions, new users, new group creation, new products, new service offerings, upsells, etc.). They partner with other companies and organizations as platforms to use, increasing traffic, data collection. This all allows for attraction usage for any user, business, organization, government to adopt as there are various business models - freemiums and premiums. However, not completely free as people provide their information to email, chat, meet, transmit information through the internet locally and globally. While there are terms and conditions and protections for your privacy, including GDPR, there is still no true way to tell that your information is protected and you are safe from data breaches or ID theft. Their competitive advantages (data collection, information) are also what gets them in front of Congress lol. Remember that they use different tiers to attract new use, leading to more information and data disclosure by the user (whether you sign up for a free gmail account, create a google sites, upgrade to G Suite for business, etc.; Facebook for example you pay for - ads...this is from targeting certain users and sometimes you'll see ads pop up on your FB page) and photo collection from both platforms. All of the facial recognition, data they have on people. No more hiding like Jason Bourne. The algorithms can curate a dossier on anyone or any company at any given time. Both google and facebook are digital asset giants of everyone's information that uses their products (person, education, business). Google drives the information super highway. For the most part when you want to look up something, you go to google. Everyone uses google everyday around the world. Same with Facebook. Facebook has scaled focusing on more groups, membership sites, marketplaces and beyond. Both continue to acquire innovative tech, SaaS companies to stay at the forefront of FAANG. There are also restrictions in China around some of these companies and they provide their own platforms. I've heard people use workarounds. As companies continue to go through digital transformations over the next decade. I don't see google slowing down one bit.
