Multiple Passing Students
Reading is a skill that takes practice and daily effort, just like working out or cooking. Luckily, the more you do it and take the time to practice meta cognitive strategies while you do it, the better you become! This requires attention and focus strategies in addition to reflecting as you read.
Annotating is always a great strategy to track your thinking and increase your comprehension. However, on the test the main thing to practice is skimming because there is only so much time.
I recommend reading a different story every on a website like Commonlit or Newsela. Make sure to pick a high school level. They all have comprehension questions at the end that can help you practice the test taking skill. You can also use IELTS reading prep book or website. A lot of them are free!
