A human with bad vision is reading a book which is 14 cm from the eyes. He needs glasses with what optical power if recomennded reading distance for healthy humans is 25 cm.

Let D is optical power. Then D + 1/d = 1/d₀, where d = 14 cm = 0.14m and d₀ = 25cm = 0.25 m

So D = 1/025 - 1/0.14 = - 3.14 dioptre
