plugs in x=2
8-4k +4-4 = 0
8-4k = 0
8 = 4k
k=2
Set up the synthetic division and we want to see if P(2) = 0 based on the Remainder Theorem.
2| 1 -k 2 -4
2 4-2k 12-4k
1 2-k 6-2k 8-4k
8 - 4k = 0
-4k = -8
k = 2
The k-value is 2.

Patrick gave the clever answer, but to explain it: if you divide a polynomial by (x-a), the remainder is the same as just plugging in a. So you want to set that to 0.07/21/20
