FORCE TABLE EXPERIMENT, PHYSICS LABORATORY

Force Table Experiment:

Four forces are applied on the force table by hanging masses over pulleys positioned at certain

directions as given in the table below.

a) Find the magnitude and direction of the resultant force (𝑭⃗

𝑹) using “Component Method”.

And draw the resultant force vector.

b) Find the magnitude and direction of the equilibrant force (𝑭⃗

𝑬). And draw the equilibrant

force vector.

c) Find the masses in grams that must be hung on the force table in order to obtain F1, F2, F3,

F4, FR and FE forces. (m1=?, m2=?, m3=?, m4=?, mR=?, mE=?) (Take g=10 m/s2)

Force (Newtons) Direction (°)

F1 1.0 45

F2 1.2 120

F3 1.0 225

F4 1.8 300
