Many exoplanets (outside our solar system) have been discovered, and more are being discovered all the time, so we really do not know how many there are in our galaxy alone. We know for sure which planets are in our solar system, as in Kaushalendra's answer, allowing for the disputed status of Pluto. Generally, Pluto is considered to be an asteroid.
