Lets first convert everything so they are the same units. 1m = 100 cm, so we can determine the perimeter is 140 cm.
The equation for the perimeter of a kite is p=2(a+b). Lets say a represents the long side and b represents the shorter side. We are able to plug our numbers in than solve.
140cm = 2(45cm + b)
140cm = 90cm + 2b
50cm = 2b
25cm = b
Each shorter side is 25cm
