First, let's subtract 56% from the whole:
100% - 56% = 44%
So that leaves 44% of people who committed crimes, attended college, or both. Let's add up 22% and 28% to see what we get:
22% + 28% = 50%
Since we simply added them, we double counted those who both committed crimes and attended college. So we have to subtract:
50% - 44% = 6%
6% of people committed crimes and attended college.
