For social responsibility: Corporations have a mission to help their workers out, particularly through a living wage. Through a living wage (e.g. $15 an hour), it would help the workers, serving as a benefit to the society that the corporation is a part of. A living wage could help workers with necessities, such as access to food, water, and shelter to help put food on the table. As for governmental responsibilities, many candidates, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, Vice President Joe Biden, and other liberal politicians believe in increasing taxes on corporations in order to help fund government programs. Sanders believes that all of the money earned by corporations makes them greedy, tying into the first argument about a living wage.
Against: Corporations should be able to do whatever they desire with their profits. They are an independent business in America and they should have the ability to help stimulate the economy however they want. Also, corporations are already serving in the best interests of the American people, selling products in accordance with the laws of supply and demand. Conservative politicians such as Sen. Rand Paul and President Donald Trump are against corporate social responsibility, where they want to lower taxes and regulations on corporations.
