How do i find the nth term for the pattern; 3, 9, 27, 81

What is the "nth term" formula for the pattern and how do you find it:

1,3, 9, 27, 81,

i understand that the number is multiplied by 3 each time, but i don't know how to find the nth term because of the first number. If the first number wouldnt have been there, it would have been n-to power 3 so can you show me what the nth term is with 1 as the first number.
